wow. same thing i have experience before but i asked them back question WHY ARE U HEARING? they just quiet. THERE NO WAY to answer that stupid questions EVER! it's kind of rudes questions. my friends KNOW MY WAY if they being rudes to me ok i will show them my rudes back if they like it or not if not then don't do that again. make them wake up it's kind rudes question and attitudes. i understand some hearing people NOT UNDERSTAND how cause us (deaf people) got loss hearing or born deaf. as they want curious what caused it and WHY u know famous for kids always asked PLENTY OF QUESTIONS WITH "WHY". oh gosh it's kind annoying me with that question "WHY". but one time my old old old friend asked me she told me " I don't want to be rude to ask i just curious how thing cause u became deaf?" i just answer " NATURAL CAUSED PERIOD" we are all human it's natural caused. so that's it. she agreed with me. NO ONE PERFECT and no one can judge on people which have CAN'T HEAR, CAN'T SPEAK, CAN'T SEE, CAN'T WRITE, CAN'T WALK, CAN'T MOVE BODY AT ALL. it's all natural caused that's it. we are not MADE OURSELVE FOR WHAT CAUSED it's GOD MADE US AND IT'S NATURAL CAUSED. be accept it.
i will support with u if ur friend stupid ask u a question. it's make sense it's more like insult to our natural so show him what question with his natural asian. same idea. u are right. keep up with videoclips!

Maybe he just wanted to know how you became deaf.
It's a reasonable question from a curious, intelligent and sensitive to other people kid. I'd answer it honestly without feeling it rude.
When that kid grows up and meets adult deaf people, he will be more likely to respond in an intelligent and respectful way.
By the way, teachers have been fired for making racial statements to kids...they are so easily misunderstood.

Yeah, I know what you meant... when I was first mainstreamed at a high school, a boy sitting next to me stared at me and then jotted down something on a piece of paper and passed it to me. I remember it very well... "Are you deaf?" I wrote it back, saying, "Yes." Then he wrote..."Do you have other problems like being retarded?" I was like huh what???? I was in Algebra class with him and he asked me that? I wrote it down, saying, "No. Just only deaf." He did not bother me afterwards.

Of course, they were curious. If I saw a man with no legs, I won't bother to ask him why he had no legs, even curiously I was dying to ask. I am not racist and I just wanted to educate him not polite to ask. Like I said earlier, we were young and somewhat stupidity sometimes :)

Nowadays, I noticed more hearing children know what Deaf is... Because they proudly fingerspelled to us like "Hi" and even fingerspelled their names.

Let me tell you a story about my WIfe, Karyn. She told me when she was a little girl at the beach with her younger sister In Hawaii. While Karyn was swimming in the beach, a little boy was talking her and she didn't response. Her sister told him that Karyn was deaf. He didn't believe her so he lifted Karyn's long hair up and remarked to her sister "Hey, you are a liar, she has both ears!!" :) He probably thought that all deaf people had no ears at all :)
